"From Gun To Tape" is a 48 minute co-production between Kenyan media company Content House and award-winning producer/director David Forbes of local production house Shadow Films.
Forbes, who directed and shot the film mostly in Iten, a high altitude training town on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, focussed on 800m world record holder and World Champion David Rudisha, and world marathon champion Edna Kiplagat (who came second in the London Marathon earlier this year).
Iten, a dusty town with red dirt roads and famous amongst the world's top runners, is acknowledged as the home and major training ground of most of Kenya's world class athletes. Part of this can be attributed to the work done here over many years by Irish Patrician Brother Colm O'Connell, who is recognised as one of the world's top trainers of runners.
Both athletes are going for Gold in London. Forbes has been following their training regimens for six months, and the film features interviews with both athletes and their coaches, and explores the physical and psychological
pressures facing world class athletes as they train for a major event.
Shot mostly on a Canon DSLR 5D with Canon lenses, the film takes the viewer behind the scenes as the Rudisha and Kiplagat stretch, do yoga, relax with their families, and prepare themselves for the biggest race of their lives.
The World Premiere of the film will be in Nairobi on the 26th of July 2012.
