The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is a statutory body set up by government to grow and develop the South African Film and Video industry. The NFVF invites suitable companies and/ or service providers to submit proposals on the following services.

It is with great sadness that the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) was informed about the passing of Junaid Ahmed, an international award winning writer, director, and producer of Happiness is a Four Letter Word, Hard to Get and the upcoming film, Keeping up with the Kandasamys.
FRANCE – SOUTH AFRICA CO-PRODUCTION WORKSHOP
The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) and the National Centre for Cinema (CNC) of France, in conjunction with the French Embassy in South Africa, are organising a 2 day co-production workshop between the two countries, which will be held in Paris the week of 27 March 2017.

CALL FOR ANIMATION SLATE PROPOSALS
The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is calling for proposals for an Animation Slate to the value of R7.5m over a period of 3 years. The slate is targeted at Tier 2 Production Companies with an aim of cultivating sustainability and viability.
NFVF to participate at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2016.
The South African delegation has embarked on a trip to attend the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which takes place from the 8th September 2016 to the 18th September 2016. The delegation is be led by the NFVF to support and increase audience access to South African films.

SAFTA Opening Call For Entry
The South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) are presented annually under the auspices of the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa (NFVF) after the industry resolved to come together in 2006. The awards were established in 2006 and are presented annually.
'Noem My Skollie' due for theatrical release 2 September 2016
The much anticapated film, Noem My Skollie, based on the life story of the scriptwriter Mr. John W. Fredericks is due for theatrical release 2 September 2016 in South African Cinemas.
Call for the Annual Academy Awards (Oscars) Foreign Language Film Category is open
The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), an agency of the Department of Arts and Culture, is once again extending a call to all South African producers to submit their films for entry into the 89th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars). The Academy has opened a call for entry for Best Foreign Language Film Award, inviting South Africans to submit their feature films for consideration.
Hot Docs-Blue Ice Group Documentary Fund
The Hot Docs-Blue Ice Group Documentary Fund helps enable more African documentary filmmakers to tell their own stories and contribute to a new generation of the African documentary community. In 2016, the Fund was renewed with an additional $1.25 million CAD, bringing the total investment to $2.35 million.

With the growth in the film and television industry the shortage of film and television production accountants has been highlighted. The NFVF’s bursary programme is aimed at building capacity by upskilling film & TV professionals for global competitiveness through its support of qualifying applicants for overseas studies which are not offered in South African tertiary institutions. However, Live Performance or Acting programmes are excluded.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS 2016
The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) are inviting emerging black filmmakers to submit proposals for consideration under the Emerging Black Filmmakers Transformation Fund (EBFTF). Launched in 2014, the EBFTF provides financial, marketing and other related support to emerging black filmmakers. The fund has been designed for Black
directors who have released fewer than five feature films.

DORA's PEACE, is a new film, shot on location in Johannesburg and releasing in August 2016, that focuses on a women determined to do anything she sets her mind to, even though she finds herself living in difficult circumstances. Dora’s Peace, starring Khabonina Qubeka and directed by Kosta Kalarytis, tells the story of Dora, a Hillbrow prostitute, who sets out to save a gifted young boy from the violent clutches of organised crime. In the process, she is forced to rediscover aspects of her own lost humanity.
