The South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs), under the custodianship of the National Film and Television Foundation, calls upon the SA film industry to submit names of their colleagues who passed away between March 2012 and March 2013. In its section of In Memoriam, the SAFTAs pay tribute to television and film practitioners who have left this world.
11 February 2013: The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) will on the 14th of February embark on a trip to Los Angeles to represent South African film at the 21st Annual Pan African Film Festival (PAFF). Dedicated to the promotion of cultural and racial tolerance, and understanding through the exhibition of film, art and creative expression, PAFF commenced on the 7th of February and will end on the 18th of February 2013.
The submission deadline for Enjaaz, the Dubai International Film Festival's post production support programme, has been extended to the 1st of March 2013. The fund awards up to USD100,000 per film, to help filmmakers working on fiction features and documentaries. Enjaaz currently aims to support up to 15 projects annually.
The NFVF is a statutory body mandated by the National Film and Video Foundation Act 73 of 1997 to spearhead the equitable and development of the South African Film and Video Industry. In partnership with the Media Information and Communication Technology Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA), eligible applicants are invited to apply for internships in the following disciplines:
Jozi Film Festival has announced that German director Tobias Lindner will be in Johannesburg for this year's festival taking place from 15 to 17 February 2013.
‘To The Power of Anne’, a film in the faux-reality genre, tracks aging stage actress Anne Power’s struggle to revive her career and claw her way back into the limelight. The film shows what happens when Power has a reality television crew assigned to her as she auditions for the lead in a new theatrical production, ‘Woman of a Certain Age’.

Anant Singh has announced that production of the live action adaptation of Yasuomi Umetsu's hit Japanese anime movie, Kite, will be shot on location in Johannesburg with Samuel L. Jackson and India Eisley as the leads. Australian sensation Callan McAuliffe will also star. Singh and LA-based Distant Horizon's Brian Cox will produce the film, alongside co-producers Moises Cosio and Alberto Muffelmann of Detalle Films, with Johannesburg-born Ralph Ziman directing and taking over the helming duties after the unfortunate passing of the previous director, David Ellis.
