5th BRICS FILM FESTIVAL – CALL FOR FILM SUBMISSION
The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) and the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture (DSAC) invites South African filmmakers to submit feature fiction and short films to screen at the BRICS Film Festival in Moscow, Russia. It will be held from the 21st to the 25th of May, 2020.
South Africa is a member of BRICS, an acronym coined for its association with five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
Thirty films are scheduled to be screened in five days (six films from each BRICS member state: two in the main competition, four in the out-of-competition category). The competition and out-of-competition films will be screened in cinema theatres throughout Moscow. There will be no more than three screenings of each film during the festival. The screenings will be conducted in the DCP format. All the festival films are for non-commercial screenings only.
Upon watching the main competition films the Jury will give out the following awards: Prize for the Best Film, Prize the Best Director, Prize for the Best Actor, Prize for the Best Actress, and Special Jury Prize. The winner in each category will receive a prize and a diploma.
Please note: In light of COVID-19, the NFVF has decided to take safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and South Africa’s participation will only be to submit films for the film festival and no South African official or filmmakers will be travelling to Moscow.
