National Film and Video Foundation Announces Leadership Changes

Johannesburg, South Africa – Monday, 30 September 2024 – The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), an agency of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) announces that Ms. Thobela Mayinje was placed on administrative leave effective Tuesday, 30 July 2024, pending an investigation for numerous allegations. Ms. Mayinje had been acting in the role of Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) since 1 April 2023. 

Since then, DSAC has seconded officials to lead the entity. Currently, Mr. Lebogang Mogoera, a Chief Director from the DSAC is acting as the Chief Executive Officer of the NFVF. In line with directives from the DSAC, the NFVF has advertised the position for a permanent CEO. This initiative reflects our commitment to a transparent and inclusive recruitment processes aimed at attracting the most qualified and visionary leader for the organisation. 

Following the dissolution of the NFVF Council, DSAC has started with a process to establish an interim Accounting Authority while legislative process of constituting a fully constituted Council is underway.  

The interim measure will ensure that processes of the entity are not disrupted and the industry needs are met.
