Title | A Reasonable Man |
---|---|
Plot Summary | A corporate lawyer takes on the case of a young Zulu accused of murdering a baby. Though the boy killed the child, he was convinced it was a tokoloshe - an evil goblin in the service of witches. Pleading innocence, rather than insanity, the lawyer bases his defence on the reasonable man principle, and begins to explore the world of Zulu mysticism and witchcraft. Hood, who plays the lead, based this courtroom drama on a famous trial and has updated the story to involve aspects of South Afric's new democracy, in which black advocates are quick to take offence and the old guard ( a memorable NIgel Hawthorne as a prickly judge) upholds another form of justice. |
