Natasje van Niekerk

Natasje van Niekerk started her career in the entertainment industry as an actress. Upon her return from the UK circuit, she landed in the children’s series, Thabang Thabong, from whence acting soon became writing.

Since then, her 16 year writing and story editing career included TV shows/soaps: Generations, Muvhango and Binnelanders. A selection of sitcoms: Askies, Pottie Potgieter, Elke Skewe Pot, Die Kasteel and few unproduced ones), magazine programmes and drama series.

When Magic Cellar came along in 2006, it opened up the wonderful world of animated series, and the mentorship of Clive Endersby, acclaimed Canadian story editor and winner of the CWG Alex Barrie award for mentorship. Suffice to say, she learnt from the best… and she learnt how to guide from the best guide!

To date, Natasje boasts with a list of children’s TV shows and international animated series. She is also a multiple, international award-winning writer and is most proud of her Aurora (International Award) for Best Comedy.

Most recently, Natasje is story editing Sissi the Young Empress Season 3 for Mondo TV SPA, developing a slate of animated shorts, two TV series and writing two feature films for NFVF and KZN Film Commission respectively. 2018 will see her going into production with her first international co-pro as Executive Producer on an international series.

In 2015 she started The Storyteller Pod, a one stop script shop, concept development hub and writing talent incubator, it is now a thriving scaling business providing employment and a “home” for over 30 writers. My goal is to show creators their power… and empower them to use it. I like seeing writers and creators fly!

I’d like to specifically work on animation projects, children’s content and TV formats.
