Tanya Mudaly

Tanya joined the film and television industry as a writer for the Dramatic Encounter’s initiative after completing an honours degree in film and television. She was recruited by the SABC through her work as an archivist and writer for the Advice Desk for the Abused.

She worked her way up the ranks as a writer, creative producer, and director on local productions, specifically long-running series and high-end African dramas.

After a stint as an industry trainer and mentor, Tanya joined SABC Drama as a commissioning editor and took the helm of productions like Sokhulu and Partners, Tshisa and Society.

She has facilitated film incubation labs at the Toronto Film Festival, specialising in developing filmmakers and content from concept to production phase.

Tanya specialises in script and content as a head writer, external evaluator and script editor for provincial film funding bodies.

She has traveled extensively researching and developing content in film and literary labs in India, Mexico, Guatemala, Bolivia, Canada, and Lesotho.

She is currently head writer and key creative producer with Seismic Productions and a head writer, trainer and workshop facilitator with BlinQ Productions in Lesotho.

Tanya is based between Gauteng, KZN, the Eastern Cape and Lesotho.
