NFVF calls for Film and TV students to apply for its national and international bursary programme
21 June 2017: The National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF), an agency of the Department of Arts and Culture, is a statutory body mandated by an Act of Parliament to spearhead the equitable growth and development of the SA film and video industry.
The NFVF provides funding to students in financial need to pursue film and television related studies at all accredited tertiary institutions in South Africa. International bursaries are also awarded to post graduate students who wish to study a course that is NOT offered at any South African tertiary institution.
Criteria for application:
National bursaries
- One page letter of motivation
- Applicant Certified ID copy (certified copy not older than 3 months)
- Latest Academic Results (certified copy not older than 3 months)
- Matric Certificate (Not Matric Statement) (certified copy not older than 3 months)
- If a parent/guardian is unemployed, please provide an affidavit and a certified ID copy of the parent/guardian. (certified copies not older than 3 months)
- Parent’s proof of income or other financial support if any i.e. 2 months bank statements, payslips, proof of social grants(certified copies not older than 3 months)
- If the applicant is independent, upload your payslip(certified copy not older than 3 months)
- Updated stuition fee breakdown from the institution for the year in which funding is required
- Letter of acceptance/acknowledgement from the institution
International post graduate bursaries (For students starting in January 2018)
- This is available for post graduate studies only and the course must not be offered at any South African institution
- One page letter of motivation
- Applicant Certified ID Copy (certified copy not older than 3 months)
- CV of an applicant
- Latest academic results and Matric certificate (certified copies not older than 3 months)
- Matric Certificate (Not Matric Statement) (certified copies not older than 3 months)
- Letter of recommendation from an industry professional
- Detailed budget including tuition and living cost
- If a parent/guardian is unemployed, please provide an affidavit and a certified ID copy of a parent/guardian (certified copies not older than 3 months)
- If applicant is independent, upload your payslip(certified copy not older than 3 months)
- If your current studies are funded through a study loan or you have received a bursary from the another financial institution, please submit the relevant documentation (I am not sure what this even means, clarify with Thandekile)

- Tuition fee breakdown from the institution
- Detailed course curriculum from the institution
- Letter of acceptance/ acknowledgement from the institution

Important Notice:
- Incomplete applications will be disqualified
- The NFVF does not fund Live Performance or Acting studies
- Only certified documents will be accepted
- Applications received after the deadline will be disqualified
- Faxed or emailed applications will be disqualified
